Who we are
The SOMGEA is a not-for-profit trade association, established in 2021. While the world around us has changed dramatically since we started out, our goal has always been the same: championing our members and promote a future built on renewable energy and clean technology. We do this by developing informed policy and advocating on behalf of our members to Government. We are a coalition built to be the voice for renewable energy and clean technology in the Somalia. We are one of the first renewable energy and associated clean technology body in the Somalia, with member organisations representing every type of renewable energy. Members comprise generators, project developers, fuel producers and distributors, equipment manufacturers and distributors, installers and service providers, and range from major multinationals to sole traders. We empower our member companies to build commercially and environmentally sustainable businesses, by providing the latest information on policy updates, sector-specific insights, topical briefings and industry-leading training/events.
What we do
We support our members with the following services:
- Market intelligence, building an understanding of market opportunities and impact.
- Knowledge-sharing and networking through events and communications.
- Advocacy, for building enabling policy and investment.
- Creating and promoting industry standards and guidelines e.g. quality assurance and consumer protection.
The industry’s impact
The off-grid solar industry transforms lives and is making a lasting economic, social and environmental impact. The products and services provided by the industry are reducing CO2 emissions, improving health and education, creating jobs and income opportunities and helping consumers save money.
